Doctrine
Presbyterian theology emphasizes the grace which God extended to us in Jesus Christ and applied to us by the Holy Spirit. We believe our salvation is entirely a gift from God. Our theology emphasizes God’s gracious covenant with his people, which is with believers and their children. For a fuller expression of what we believe see the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Polity
What is unique about Presbyterian Polity is that authority flows both from the Congregation up and from the Denomination down. To prevent powerful hierarchies governed by a single individual, elders are elected by congregation members to serve on the session who are responsible for leading the congregation. Regional groups of congregations form a Presbytery and all the presbyteries together compose the General Assembly. Our denomination is the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. For a more in-depth view of how the churches are run see the Book of Church Order.
